Three Ways to Prepare for Your Next Tattoo Appointment

Tattoos are the perfect way to express yourself and your individuality. They’re also one of the most permanent forms of art you can get. If you're thinking about getting a tattoo, it's important to know what to expect for your appointment. In this post, we are going to discuss three ways to prepare for your upcoming tattoo appointment at Red Arbor Tattoo. We'll go over different things you can do before, during, and after your appointment to ensure your tattoo is a positive experience... Whether you’re getting a tattoo on your arm, chest or leg, here are some ideas to help you prepare.

When you arrive to your tattoo appointment at Red Arbor, make sure to bring the following items with you:

-Your driver's license / or ID card

-Appropriate clothing for the area being tattooed

-Water & snacks of your choice

Some additional things to keep in mind before your appointment:

-Make sure to shower and practice good hygiene the day of your appointment

-Arrive a few minutes early to allow time to check in and get situated

-Bring a book, magazine, or phone charger to pass the time

- Let your artist know of any health conditions that may affect your tattoo process

1. Take care of your skin

When you're getting a tattoo, it's important to take care of your skin. Make sure to abstain from extreme sun exposure for at least 12 hours before your appointment and avoid using tanning beds or applying lotions. Lastly, drink plenty of water before and during your appointment. This will help you to stay hydrated and relaxed during the tattoo process.

2. Wear something comfortable

When you go to get a tattoo, you want to be as comfortable as possible. You want to be able to move around easily and be able to breathe. It's important to wear clothes that are going to be easy to remove and ones that won't stick to your skin. Plan your outfit the night before and bring some options in case you need to change. Red Arbor provides pillows and blankets to our clients, but not all tattoo shops do.

3. Eat a healthy meal

You may be wondering why it is important to eat before your tattoo appointment. The answer is that it helps prevent from getting a headache, feeling ill during the tattoo or passing out. You need energy and nutrients to get through the process. So the next time you get a tattoo, make sure you eat a meal before you go in for your appointment. We at Red Arbor provide non-alcoholic beverages, water and light snacks to our clients during the tattoo process.

Preparation is key in ensuring a smooth, fun experience for both you and your tattoo artist. Research the shop you are choosing if you have never been there before or are new to the area. Make sure the artist you are working with is experienced and reputable. Don’t hesitate to ask questions! We pride ourselves in providing education to our clients on the tattoo process.

Lastly, be prepared to pay for a high-quality tattoo. Tattoos take time, so be patient and be respectful of your tattoo artist. They are dedicated to their art and should be treated as such.
